Hast Shilp is a handicraft store inside Grand Square mall, Velachery that is capable of confusing everybody with their stunning collection. Started by Mala Roy, an ardent lover of handicrafts, this store tries to break the myth in the marketplace that handmade goods have to always be expensive. And we gotta admit that they have fairly succeeded in this attempt.
Handmade jewellery, jute mats, wall hangings, candlestands, bell hangings, bamboo vases, wooden and brass coasters, terracotta Thanjavur dolls, brass home decor, sholawood (a kind of wood that is very light) flowers, leather crafts and a huge variety of wooden toys of all choices: the list of products displayed at Hast Shilp is almost never-ending. We absolutely loved the tiny wooden showpieces in bird shapes that cost just INR 35 and their saffron-coloured wooden peacock bell.
Hast Shilp has got the needs of children covered as well. From wooden choppu chaamaan (miniature cutlery for kids to play with) set, toys, tiny bangles to pencil boxes and cartoon character-themed coasters, if you take those naughty brats in your house to this store, they will definitely be impressed. This store also caters to corporate orders, wedding gift orders and any other bulk orders. They are open to customisation too. As they are made by artisans from rural areas, whatever you buy here will help well-deserving artists and Indian handicrafts.
