MadRasana (pronounced Mad Rasana) Unplugged is an initiative to transform the live kutcheri experience - here, technology blends with talent.

What Makes It Awesome

MadRasana started in 2016, and is all about presenting classical art in an intimate setting to bring the performer, art form, and the rasikas (listeners) together and connect deeply. What about this is different from Sabha kutcheris you ask? Everything!  MadRasana has two formats - the first is garden concerts, which are held in open spaces with the 'nature' element. The second kind is conducted in off-beat and intimate indoor spaces - it could be anything from a quaint co-working space to an art studio.

Another factor that sets it apart is the addition of technology to this mix - these concerts are produced professionally and released on online platforms. In videos, it’s one musician singing one song with minimal elements like a tambura. These are released as episodes and acclaimed musicians like Bharath Sundar, Amrita Murali, and Sandeep Narayan have performed. Young artistes (aged 8-15) known to be ‘prodigies’ have also performed as part of MadRasana. Attend these concert to get the most of Chennai’s Carnatic music scene.

Pro-Tip

MadRasana is hosting concerts in Sathyam Cinemas from December 23 till 27. Five artistes will perform live from 8:30am to 11:30am.
