Chennai Might Soon Get Cycle-Sharing & Smart Parking Systems To Help Ease Traffic

Sure our traffic isn’t as bad as other metros but it still can get pretty, pretty hectic. So the city is preparing for projects that will improve connectivity and help ease traffic congestion. According to this report in The Hindu, The Chennai Corporation has floated tenders for both cycle-sharing and smart parking systems. The cycle sharing system will offer cycles {they’re planning to push out 5,000 cycles in the first phase} for INR 10 per hour, or even less and the smart parking system will see 12,000 parking spaces developed soon. These will have time sensors to detect cars and officials can determine if people haven’t paid the charges. How cool is that? So hopefully Chennaites can get around our beloved city a lot more easily in the future.
