Yelagiri has got something for everyone. There’s trails and treks aplenty, the biggest of which is the trek up to Swami Malai the highest peak in the area. Though be warned it’s best to trek early morning as it can get uncomfortably warm during midday.
What if that’s not enough excitement? Maybe you want to shoot arrows? Or Zipline across the canopy? Check out Ropes and Knots, one of three adventure parks in Yelagiri. The attractions are a bit of a splurge, with 15 mins of a paintball game setting you back INR 350 and one lap on an ATV costing INR 300. Being a predominantly weekend destination, the adventure parks will keep you busy during the sunlight hours, especially if you’re in a large group. For the quieter folk, there’s nice parks to enjoy; perfect for that book you’ve always been wanting to read {Entry fee is nominal}.
In the evenings you can enjoy a quiet boat ride on the lake, and finish the night with marshmallows and a bonfire! Camping is available at the adventure parks and in the camping sites, with the adventure parks providing camping gear. If camping is not your thing, the top ranked hotels/resorts like the Marigold Ridge and The Landmark offer warm beds and hot meals at friendly prices {INR 2,000 per night at the time of this publication}. Food wise, Yelagiri doesn’t stand out, but hey that’s not why you’re going.
