What Makes It Awesome

The Only Place Log Cabin is quite literally the only place in the area it’s in. Set 40 km from Munnar, the property is located near the town of Koviloor. Private transport is recommended and the property has ample car parking space. The construction is emblematic of class English countryside homes, thanks to its stone and naked brick walls, indoor fireplace, and sloped ceilings (with skylights!). The spacious 1bhk cabin can comfortably house five guests thanks to its three single beds and one double bed (all with thick comforters!). The house also has a cozy living room with couches, a cute wooden picnic table, and a stone bar counter.

Amenities-wise, there are electrical sockets all around the house, western-style bathrooms, a functional kitchenette but no central heating, so that fireplace is just as much a necessity as it is decorative. However, you didn’t come this way to stay inside all day, outside is where the magic is. You’re surrounded by jungle on all sides and there’s plenty of trekking trails all around that take you through farms, jungles, and even to waterfalls!

Being in the Kurinjimala Sanctuary means that you also have plenty of wildlife to spot. There are elephants, Gaur, Nilgiri Langurs that can be spotted from the property, and if you’re lucky you’ll even get to spot the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Surrounding the sanctuary are other protected areas that have even more wildlife like tigers! So we highly recommend checking out the safaris. Prices start at INR 1,500 per person per night if you’re a group of four or five. All in all, if you’re a nature lover you’ll have a thoroughly enjoyable time here. Just don’t forget your binoculars and camera!

Pro-Tip

There’s also a fire pit with a place for a campfire and a barbecue, wooden logs as seating, and plenty of lush green grass to lie on! Do note that only BSNL offers cell phone coverage in this area.

The owner Mr. Giridhar and his wife Sreeja will be present to settle you in at the property and to assist you with excursions like safaris and treks (night safaris too!). They’re even happy to offer you home-cooked meals at the property if you so wish.
