What Makes It Awesome

Ever heard of Ilkal sarees? Or Bengal Begumpuris? We didn't know about them till we came across Taachi. An online saree label, this one's making the case for Indian handloom sarees while giving you a lesson in history, one gorgeous drape at a time. Their handpainted Kalamkari saree is what we first spotted, and we were immediately sold! Earthy hues of red, mustard and blue painted beautifully across a beige base, this one is truly a work of art!

As you go deeper into their Instagram feed, you'll find equally stunning Ajrakh modal silk sarees with intricate designs in hues of mustard, indigo, leaf green, brick red and more. If you're into cotton, Taachi's got a lovely collection of Chanderi cotton sarees with contrasting Kantha work blouses. We also love their Maheshwari cotton sarees with zari borders in bright hues of red, blue, green, mango yellow and pink. Their Bengal Begumpuris (typically loosely woven, light-weight and come with contrasting borders) are worth checking out too.

Taachi's got some interesting khadi weaves as well in hues of dainty blue, indigo, magenta, grey, green and more. From Karnataka, they've got Ilkal sarees (cotton body with art silk pallu and border) and Patteda Anchu sarees (have a border and checks pattern and can be worn both ways) in earthy hues. You can even check out some linen drapes and ikat salwar suits here. The best part - all of these are sustainable. Their packaging is worth a mention too, as they do it in brown paper bags with a wax and steal stamp. How so very vintage!
