Feel Like You're Home With This Budget, Homemade, Ready-To-Cook Food

Shortcut

Desifoods makes ready-to-cook chapati, poori, wraps and rolls base, at wallet-friendly prices.

What Makes It Awesome

Whether you’re in namma Chennai to study or work, we bet you miss home-made food. You’ve probably tried cooking for yourself, but it can be tiring to come back home late at night and cook every day. Don’t worry though, because now, you can get ready-to-cook food - all you have to do is pop it in your microwave/on the stove.

Desifoods, started by K Srinivasan four-years-ago, is a breath of fresh air for hostelites and IT people. They make chapati, poori, wrap and rolls base, and all kinds of yum podis (sambar, rasam, paruppu, molagai, etc). These rotis are machine-made at a factory in Madipakkam and they don’t use maida or any preservatives, so you know you’re eating healthy.

And we love that they are super affordable! One packet of 25 chapatis is priced at INR 120. A packet of pooris (25 pieces) is priced at INR 75 (you’re paying just INR 3 per poori!). You can either pick these up from Perumbakkam or Madipakkam or have them delivered. You just need to call a day in advance and place your order. Pick up your phone and get your veedu saapadu without feeling guilty about spending too much money!

Pro-Tip

They are soon launching homemade snacks like mixture, murukku, and karasev. Desifoods cater to corporate and family gatherings, as well. Also, note that they are off on Saturdays, so you can place your orders on other days.
