Thaiyyal is the brand we are talking about. Started by homepreneur Nithya Ramachandran, this brand sells a wide range of durable fabric products that are carefully hand-stitched.
Tote bags, phone cases, iPad cases, surukku pai, make-up pouches, water bottle cases and more -Thaiyyal makes all of these in fabric prints like Kalamkari, Ikat (they can never be overdone, no?), geometric and figure designs. With a balanced mix of subtle and bright colours, these accessories are also very budget. The tote bags are priced at INR 150 and the phone cases start from INR 100. Our favourite product though is their Kindle case. Etched with a layer of cotton cushion, these cases are super soft and can withstand a fall from your hand. These are priced at INR 200. We also loved their bright orange Ikat bottle case. They are available in denim as well.
We met them at a pop-up in Chennai and couldn't resist buying a handful of them, for, they can be the perfect, pretty looking and durable gifts for everyone. Thaiyyal is also open to customise, you could even buy/suggest fabric designs that they can stitch into any of their existing products you might want.
