This week we decided to check out the student area around Satyaniketan and came upon this little gem. Surrounded by chains like Pizza Hut and Café Coffee Day, LOLZ brings you a cheery and certainly memorable dining experience.
The café’s décor sort of makes you feel like you’re going to meet Archie, Jughead, Veronica, and the rest of the Riverdale gang. The vinyl records on the walls, neon lights, and colorful drinking cups really give you the feel of a relaxed American diner. Aside from the food they serve, there is a huge selection of comics to read. You can choose from Archie, Marvel, and Birbal. And to add to your childhood nostalgia, there's even some Amar Chitra Katha religious comics. If the wide selection of comics can’t keep you entertained, there are classic board games like Chess and Ludo. Obviously by the name, laughing comes naturally at LOLZ. So it wasn't surprising to learn that complimenting their funky décor, the café hosts Hindi/English open mic comedy nights as well as movie screenings.
The menu features classic American diner dishes with not so classic names. There are choices from the All Day Breakfast, the Bum Burgers, and the Titty Bitties appetizer selection. Yes, that’s not a typo; those are their actual names! Not just great savoury food; the desserts are both heavenly and sinful. Look for the Chocorgasm Pizza: a pizza calzone with a creamy Nutella filling. LOLZ promises that it will be LOLGASMIC. There’s also an amazing Muesli Sundae and Oreo Cupcake. My only regret was having to choose just one dessert.
