What Is It?

Aakriti Foundation presents Arpan, its annual offering by the students of the foundation, alongside senior practitioners of the art forms. Arpan 2017 features a solo Kathak recital by the founder and director of Aakriti Foundation, Sushmita Ghosh with live music accompaniment by Shiv Shankar Ray on Tabla and Amitava Majumdar on Sarod. The evening opens with a string of dance presentations showcasing various aspects of Kathak Dance by the young students of Aakriti Foundation. They are joined by some of the visiting students from abroad who return regularly for advanced training in Kathak. Arpan is our celebration of the dedicated efforts of the students and their parents, supported by an encouraging family of senior artists.

The event is scheduled to take place on November 4 {Saturday, 6:30pm onwards}.

Anything Else?

Aakriti Foundation was established in 1998 in the UK, to promote and enhance the practice, training, performance and appreciation of Indian Classical performing arts.  The working base shifted to New Delhi in 2002 and a branch centre started in Kolkata in February 2012.

In its journey in India and Europe, with students, parents, scholars, aficionados and the uninitiated art lover, Aakriti Foundation is inspired by a strong belief in the power of arts not only to heal but also to educate and elevate the humanity.  This belief inspires all its activities including classes and workshops in Europe and India, large-scale festivals and intimate baithaks. The training approach addresses the creative nourishment of the child as well as the artistic nuances of the art forms, within the context of the current social environment. The focus lies on learning through the holistic integration of various art disciplines and faculties.
