What Makes It Awesome?

Did you ever wonder if Japanese cuisine had more to offer than just raw seafood? Guppy, nestled in a quiet market located at Lodhi road surely captures the grandeur of this cuisine.

I along with fellow food lovers visited Guppy to review their Hanami festival menu which was curated by Chef Khatri. The Hanami festival is a Japanese traditional custom to welcome the springs where the cherry blossoms are covering most parts of the country. In a traditional setup, people there would gather around a park or a public space and share food & drinks in view of the cherry blossoms.

Started with a drink named Orange Tingle containing wasabi, orange and sour mix. This really caught my eye while scrolling the drinks menu and just had to taste it. It surely justified my instinct and the hotness of wasabi gave a nice kick to the throat.

Tofu and Asparagus Steak: One of the few vegetarian items on the Hanami menu was this Mizo-grilled Tofu and Asparagus; served on a bed of green vegetables.

Now this place arguably serves the best sushi's in town and the garlic accompaniment adds another surprise for your taste buds. The ones I loved were -

-No rice sushi with exotic seafood: Tuna, prawn and crab stick rolled in salmon slices with Wasabi nut.
-Mango and Tuna Roll: Fresh mango, Spicy Tuna, tempura fritters and Khimchi sauce.
-Hot Stone Tenderloin: Hot tenderloin slices cooked as you please on the hot stone; served with spicy sesame and teriyaki sauce along with chilli citrus soy.
-Sakura wood smoked chicken wings: Salt-cured chicken wings; home smoked with cherry blossom wood.
Ending on a high with their rainbow dessert was fun to mix and play.

There were many more items served on the menu so do plan a visit as the festival ends soon.

Pro tip: For all, you sake lovers out there, ensure it's not a dry day.
