Netflix Killer? Amazon Launches Its Less-Expensive Streaming Service

Ten-Second Takeaway

Amazon has launched its Prime Video service in India, after already launching Amazon Prime in July 2016. Prime Video will give users access to exclusive movies, Amazon original series and other content from across the globe.

Same Same, But Different

One of the big differences being noticed between Netflix and Amazon is that, while Netflix doesn’t offer a whole lot of Indian/Bollywood content, Amazon has already tied up with a whole bunch of Indian creators, so we’ll see more Bollywood movies, original web series and kids content.

According to the Times of India, they’ve already gotten their hands on the existing libraries of some top production houses {Dharma Productions, Vishesh Films, T-Series}.

The other big difference will be the price. A Prime subscription in India is available at an introductory price of INR 499 for a year, expected to go up to INR 999 later. Meanwhile, we’re paying INR 650 – INR 800 per month for our beloved Netflix.

Which one is better? Only time will tell.
