Visit Amici Cafe For A Pizza & Salmon Lunch

Shortcut

Bright, cheery and pretty as a picture, Amici Café in Defence Colony makes for a great late Sunday lunch, and serves up excellent thin crust pizzas, antipasti and icy coolers.

Must Eat

The pride of the place is their hand tossed, wood oven fired, thin crust pizzas and you cannot go wrong with them. I sampled two classics – the Margherita and the Pepperoni, and both were stellar. The Margherita actually worked better for me because it had the added flourish of garden fresh rocket leaves. I would also recommend the Smoked Salmon Platter – the salmon was perfectly pink, and served with cream cheese and Melba toast.

Must Drink

There is wine and beer on offer so you could pair a Bira or a glass of red with your pie, but I chose the Spremuta Al Zenzero which was a tall glass of fresh lemon, soda and ginger.

What We Loved

A warm and comforting vibe, and eclectically done up interiors. The window displays on higher floors pair delivery cartons with cushy sofa sets and other bric-a-brac.

What Didn’t Impress Us

The service on a weekend afternoon was a bit of a miss for me – there were too many people, and too little servers. Also, I ordered a portion of grilled vegetables in pesto which had way too much cheese for my liking.

What Is The Best Time To Visit?

A late lunch to beat the crowds on any day of the week.

Anything Else?

The first floor makes for a more intimate dining experience, so make the effort of walking up a bit. Ask for the specials menu as well; there is almost always something new that gets introduced. And, Citibank card holders get a discount.
