K3 at the JW Marriott is currently hosting an Awadhi food festival, headed by chef Arif Qureshi, who has created a menu solely of his specialties.

We started at the festival with an array of kebabs; the galouti being the star of the show with its incredible melt-in-the-mouth quality. The aloo paneer one came in a close second. Once you’ve had your fill of the starters {we suggest leaving some space in your tummy}, head to the colourful counter at the other end which reads Arif Ki Rasoi.

In the spotlight

Chef Arif took immense pride in introducing us to his dishes: Nihari, keema kaleji, gosht pulao, dal makhani, a very different buttery haleem {we loved!} and the chef’s favourite, Zarda {sweetened rice}. If you’re a mutton fan, you’re in for quite the treat. You can help yourselves in bowls {it’s sort of like a buffet, but with the chef involved} and stand around eating like you would at a shaadi, or alternatively take your food back to your table and have a nice sit-down dinner. We did both.

Do not desert the dessert!

Although by this time we were bursting at the seams, one look at the dessert counter and we knew we were headed there next. Caramel custard, umpteen number of cakes, tiramisu, crème brulee, chocolate mousse and an exciting selection of ice creams; the brown bread gelato has now made it to our list of fave sweet treats.
