Before you start fawning over these beautiful ensembles by Amit Sachdeva, let me tell you how I found out about this label.
A cousin of mine got married, and I still hadn’t figured out what I wanted to wear. I visited a million places, trying out a thousand dresses to find that perfect one. All that time I spent in different stores was only to find dresses that were too blingy, too bright, or too dark, too expensive or just not good enough.
On my way to Connaught Place one day, I saw this store with a brown board which had 'Amit Sachdeva' embossed in gold. There was a huge glass wall showcasing the mood of his current collection. Since I hadn’t found anything for that engagement, I thought of giving it a shot.
The first thing I noticed was the minimal work-space that this designer had crafted for his collection. About the collection? From lehengas to anarkalis, kurtis to gowns, this store had it all. But what really caught my attention was this pair of sheer legging embellished with thread-work and zardozi. This was my first purchase from this designer.
On browsing further, I found the collection to be enchanting, each garment more beautiful than the other with new cuts, drapes and silhouettes. They were just the right mix of Indian and Western wear. I've also picked up a black Bolero jacket with a Skirt from here. This jacket {pictured} was covered with antique metal and bead work that can be pulled off with anything, be it a skirt, jeans or even your grandma’s old sari!
Since it was a summer wedding, this store had all the right colours from pastel pinks, to green and yellows. I had my eyes on this bewitching mint green and yellow lehenga that I finalised for my cousin’s wedding. I was personally assisted by a stylist who was up for any sorts of customization {not that they needed any} and was there to guide me about the colours, embroidery and the kind of cuts that would compliment my build.
Lately, this has become my go to store for any occasion, and I definitely recommend this store to anyone who’s looking for fusion wear ensembles that can be pulled off with the least possible effort.
