There’s very few things about Delhi that trump its winter, and the months leading up to it. And now that the weather’s getting better, we’re fairly certain everyone’s looking for places that allow them to eat in the open, so here’s our top picks for a meal under the stars.

Amalfi

The good news about Amalfi is that it’s barely ever crowded, so it manages to preserve the tranquil ambience in both its outdoor sections. Complete with wrought iron furniture, white canopies, fountains, and bricked flooring, it’s exactly how you’d imagine a little Italian cafe to be.

Lord Of The Drinks

With a stunning view of Connaught Place in all its glory, Lord of the Drinks is ideal for dates. The terrace is massive and has resort-like laidback seating. Complete with dim lighting and soft music, it wouldn’t be the worst idea to pop the question to your SO here.

Town Hall

Once you eat the sushi and Black Cod here, nothing else will matter. We recommend always making a reservation; the terrace fills out fast, even though they’re equipped with 20 tables.

The Hungry Monkey

The Hungry Monkey’s terrace comes complete with its own bar, white canopies, and enough greenery to make it a sanctuary all on its own. Since it can’t seat more than between 15 – 20 people at one time, we find it more suitable for groups of friends, unless PDA is your preferred MO. If not for a meal, it’s a near perfect space for conversation over cocktails.

The Yard

This one is for when all you want is perfect ambience, great food and a few drinks. The terrace is lit up with pretty fairy lights and done up in wooden accents, with a view of, well, the traffic. But seeing it down below, you definitely feel glad about not being a part of it all.

Set’z

Erstwhile Zest, Set’z has consistently maintained a class multi-cuisine menu, near perfect food and a bunch of lovely cocktails. One of the few outdoor spaces that cater to every type of meeting, here is where you should start if this is your first brush with an outdoor meal in Delhi.

Olive Bar & Kitchen

One of the first fine-dine restaurants in the city, Olive continues to charm us with its pebbly outdoor area done up in pretty lights. The ambience screams romance but you wouldn’t be out of place with your family at their Sunday brunch held under the warm winter sunshine  either. If you’re feeling experimental, enroll for their Tasting Lab sessions.

Dramz Whisky Bar

With a whiskey bar {making sure you got that} and five floors tall, the Dramz terrace has one of the best views of the Qutab Minar. If not for the food, an aged scotch on their terrace makes any winter that much better. And sure takes care of the cold, too.

Adda By Striker

Adda by Striker in GK N Block Market boasts of a terrace complete with a bunch of tables and chairs overlooking the market and sun umbrellas. Snack on some Butter Chicken Noodles and tandoori momos and just take in the winter.

Amreli

Amreli has a very Olive-esque garden and outdoor section, complete with wooden decks, garden furniture, and private canopies. We hear you can rent out the entire fairy lit garden for private parties, so when you do, invite us.

Summer House Cafe

Okay, so, not so much for a fine meal, but the terrace and expansive balcony at Summer House are definitely keepers. This is more of a weekend venue, for when you’re in the mood for drinks and loud music. We recommend getting in early and scoring a table on the terrace.

FIO Country Kitchen And Bar

With a few fairy lights, strategic spots and landscaping, you’ve got yourself the perfect date spot in town at this one, especially since they always have some kind of offer on pitchers. Also keep a look out for special gigs and live performances; everything is better when it’s outdoors.

Rose Cafe

We nominate Rose Cafe for days spent in the sun rather than under the stars. If privacy is what you need, you’re in luck, as it’s their biggest speciality, along with a menu featuring cafe-esque food including Italian, Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisine.

Le Bistro Du Parc

Another menu from the French subcontinent, Le Bistro du Parc makes it to our list of top outdoor spaces. Imagine wine, a terrace surrounded by vines, fine French food, and a live jazz band. You there yet?

Cafe Turtle

For those days when you just want to curl up with a good book and a cup of coffee, Cafe Turtle comes to the rescue. The bonus here is their delish all-vegetarian menu. Choose from Italian and Lebanese dishes and dig into their baked goods post your meal.

Lodi – The Garden Restaurant

Al-fresco dining, cobble-stoned flooring, and one too many nooks for if things go very well; it’s  Lodi – The Garden Restaurant for you. PS: They host gigs regularly, so we recommend you call and check beforehand if you’re looking for some downtime.

QLA

Right around the corner from one of our favourite monuments in the city, QLA deserves mention for its superb view of the Qutab Minar. This 7,000 sq feet, European style indoor space is just the perfect spot for arranging that bash you’ve been planning for so long, and is equally suitable for quiet dates. If you’re a wine person, do try out their Wine Wednesdays.
