Best Of 2017: The 5 Craziest Things We Ate This Year

The information in this post might be outdated

The year’s come to an end, and while we’re gearing up to see what 2018 brings us, here’s recalling all the bizarre foods we discovered in 2017. The New Year better keep up; the bar’s been set pretty high.

Black Ice Cream

The Funnel Hill Creamery in Green Park main market is doing ice creams, waffles, shakes and brews that are every bit Pinterest-worthy. They’re doing gothic ice cream, the first we’ve heard of in the city. Their Devil’s Hell ice cream with a black scoop and a red cone is everything that makes us want to ditch our diet and brings out the Insta-obsessed millennial in us. While your teeth might retain a bit of the black activated-charcoal colour from the ice cream, the delightful coconut-y flavour {Let’s face it; an acquired taste} and the crisp, red cone drenched in Nutella will make it really difficult for you to not order another one.

Rogan Josh Burger

Broaster American Diner’s food is a mish-mash of their classic US menu items and a desi palate {think KFC but better, and with a much wider menu}. Plus, celebrity chef Harpal Singh is responsible for some of the more fun items in there, so the taste is far from a let-down. We loved the rogan josh burger, which comes with a tender lamb patty and a curried sauce between striking red sesame buns

Selfie Coffee

Selfie Swag Cafe, located in DLF Mall of India, is a small coffee shop which does delicious mochas and lattes. The fun part? They’ll take your selfie {or any picture, for that matter} and print it on top of your coffee! How it works is pretty simple. You choose the coffee you want, hot or cold, you send your picture to a WhatsApp number they give you, and 5 minutes later, all the coffee beans of the world cast a magic spell and your face is suddenly floating on top of your coffee cup {well, it’s actually a printing machine they use, but it’s more or less magic}. You can choose from your favourite lattes, frappés, mochas, and even milkshakes — they all taste amazing.

French Fry Pizza

A combination of our two favourite foods? Yes, please. The folks at Cafetorium do a mean three cheese pizza that’s just gotta be everyone’s go-to on dark days. Try the fries/nachos topped versions of this– the true vision from our comfort food dream.

Chocolate Gol Gappa

Social Foodie Inside located near Durgiana Mandir {opposite More Supermarket}, is a cubby eatery with a few tables outside and a few chairs inside. The Chocolate Golgappa which we were most excited about is the ultimate indulgence for the Instagram age with massive golgappas drenched in chocolate, filled with ice cream and nuts, and served with chocolate milk and brownie chunks in shot glasses.
