Handpicked, Handmade Brands To Make Your Dinner Parties WOW!

The charm of handmade products is unparalleled. With unique flourishes, and perfectly imperfect flaws, there’s real character to them. Apart from that, no two pieces are the same, so you also own a unique product! Many brands employ artisans to encourage and finance their craftsmanship which is also their livelihood. Outside of that of course, there’s those that enjoy the art of creating things by hand, and at LBB, we love both reasons to get handmade products! Tableware sees a lot of “hand-ling” , and any that is handmade, is unintentionally made to be held or used best by hand, and here are our favourite brands for them.

    Chaos Doodles

Those of you who are artsy know the joy of making things by hand, and if that’s how you want to express  yourself, Chaos Doodles has a few sets of tableware for you. Trays and coasters are available in a myriad of doodle style designs done by hand; mostly mandalas and geometric patterns. Who knows, maybe they’ll serve you some inspiration while you enjoy your meal or coffee!

    Button Curry

    Available on LBB

Button Curry has been a hot fav at LBB (even within the LBB crew) ever since we discovered them in 2019 for their minimalist, handmade tableware. Embracing the philosophy of Wabi Sabi in their collection(s), every groove, scratch, and imperfection adds character to their dinnerware. We love them for their pasta plates and salad bowls the most! They also make a limited number of wooden cutlery and metal chopsticks.

    Colorstory by Divya

Resin decor has seen a resurgence in the last few years, and we’re not surprised. Delightfully whimsical (almost magical), versatile, and made with a more durable material than other tableware and decor options, resin can be fashioned into pretty much anything. Colorstory by Divya makes elegant coasters, trays, tissue boxes, and even literal tabletops! Whether you want it with pressed flowers, agate style, or the classic top view of a shore, it’ll be done.

    World Art Community

The World Art Community is technically a platform that allows artists and artisans from the world to display and sell their unique creations. So you get everything from handpainted coasters and trays to hand carved pieces of cutlery and sculpture-esque table accessories and ceramics. No matter the aesthetic, there’s something for everyone.

    House Of Peony

For dinnerware and crockery with intricate artwork that will blow you away, check out House of Peony. They take orders for bespoke pieces so everything is exclusive. All designs on them are hand painted, and it’s truly a labour of love. The patterns on them are truly exquisite whether it’s pretty plates with peonies on them, or ceramic kettles and cups with strainers with Japan inspired art. While you gush over their collection, we’re going to remind you that it’s painted by hand!

    Popup Stone

    Available on LBB

Perfect finish isn’t necessarily a good thing. Some of us like the aesthetic to be literally rough around the edges, and the Popup Stone doesn’t disappoint. A studio that makes rustic and evocative ceramics, you can add to your handmade tableware collection whether it’s for dining or coffee. We’re loving their pour over coffee brewer, butter dish, and leaf imprint trays.

    Clay Karma

Going beyond your usual plates and bowls is Clay Karma, great for their handcrafted tableware like mugs, tableware, trays, and even utensils like mughal dongas (for biryanis, curries, and more!), jugs, trays, and pizza trays (hand painted at that!) among other things. All their products have a rustic vibe to them while also being vibrant and functional. They make both stoneware and pottery, with wonderful designs on them. Even the plain ones look great. We have a special spot on our heart for their cutting chai glasses with the stand!

    Stonewashed Studio

Stonewashed Studio’s products have a wonderful earthy look and feel to them. You get nice coffee mugs, trays, and dessert plates among other things. Some of the coasters  do look like slabs of marble and agate, but our favs are the platters and serving (and dipping) bowls. The textured finish of these is what has sold us on their options.

    Saaga

    Saaga

    Available on LBB

Now we’ve talked about a lot of ceramics, stoneware, pottery, and all things earthy, and Saaga is all about wood. Solid wood is hand carved into practical, sturdy, and affordable tableware options starting at INR 895. Classic favourites like chopping and serving boards are available as well as slightly less common options like collapsible cake stands, cake trays, and pizza trays. We also love their cake knife and serving set.

    Table Fable

    The Table Fable

    Available on LBB

If you enjoy a low-key rustic aesthetic, and your tableware should follow suit, check out Table Fable. They have the traditionally rustic style ceramic options, as well as insta favs with pastels and light hues. We’re loving the lightly speckled coffee sets, and the options with painted designs for when we want cheery pops of colour. Table Fable’s handmade crockery sets are microwave and dishwasher safe.

    Ellementry

Ellementry is an old favourite, and we love their collections and curations for sensible, artsy, and aesthetically pleasing tableware, and as with the rest of the stuff they sell, these are handmade too. Studio Nendo

    Studio Nendo

    Available Online

If Japanese art styles tickle your fancy, Studio Nendo has a treat or two in store for you. Get everything from Ramen bowls, butter dishes, salt cellars, to woven cane cloches, cutlery holders and bread boxes. Keeping the design simple and hand friendly (no, really, some of their sauce pourers and tumblers have dents in them to allow efficient holding and pouring), the feel is earthy, clean and light. The best part is that they’re budget friendly too with prices starting around INR 300

    Eco Bowls

    Eco Bowls

    Available on LBB

No list of Indian tableware brands will be complete without the inclusion of one that makes it all from coconut! Eco-bowls sources coconut shells and makes cutlery (mostly bowls, thanks to its shape) out of them. The fibrous part of the shell is cleared, and then polished, sometimes with designs carved on them, using the material’s natural characteristics for colour and texture. These work best as snack and breakfast bowls, and not necessarily for anything hot, or particularly difficult to clean.
