A surprising treat
When we first heard about My Native Store we weren’t sure what to expect. The information, ‘buy your regional products here’, seemed scarce and limited. So we were pleasantly surprised once we checked out their website.
You can shop for spices, handicrafts, ethnic wear, snacks, pickles and other essentials {a small section}. The major areas sourced from are Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and the north-east.
Not every state section has every item available. For example, Rajasthan and the north-east only have handicrafts, while the Kerala section only offers food items {the pickles, spices and snacks}.
A variety of goods
While browsing through their platform without a goal in mind, we found a delightful little Camel Design Salt and Pepper Dispenser and a colourful Designer Wooden Elephant Stool from Rajasthan. We could easily see both items in our home, and neither would put too much of a dent in our pocket.
In the Kerala section we found great deals on spice and pickle combos {six packs of spice packets came in at under INR 200}, a fine, but small, collection of silk and cotton saris in the Tamil Nadu ethnic wear section, and an adorable set of bamboo cups {under INR 1,000} from the north-east handicrafts page.
