Remember the time when wearing Fubu jeans, lopsided caps and loose basketball shirts was cool? Fortunately or unfortunately, a hippie wave took over Delhi; and Lil Wayne jeans and P Diddy jerseys have been replaced by bhane pants and Laquer Embassy shirts. What’s making a comeback now is Hip Hop {thank you, Pharrell Williams}, and ‘The Cap.’ Giving us a reason to follow through on this recovering trend is InShadyCompany.
Started earlier this year, InShadyCompany is the brainchild of Sonia Luthria. She’s taken the mundane baseball cap and added a dose of quirk, a burst of neon and a whole lot of prints to it. Though the prints are currently available only on baseball caps, Sonia’s developed over 40 renditions to choose from – a mix of penguins, ikat, bandhini, chevron, florals… younameit. And she’s used light fabrics, ideal for the scorching heat. We’ve got our hearts set on this muted baby for the day, and this blinding neon to brighten up summer nights.
Next stop for InShady company? The Brooklyn Night Bazaar towards the end of May. No worries if you aren’t vacationing in New York this Summer; get in touch with her online.
