Check Out The India Art Fair For These Four Awesome Reasons

Mary posted on 1st February

If you're looking for a cohesive cultural experience that integrates discussions, paintings, visual arts and films under one single platform, then the India Art Fair is where you need to be. Not convinced yet? Read on.

A Unique Insight Into Art Films

So while every weekend might offer you multiple chances to catch up on the latest Bollywood movies, India Art Fair offers you the opportunity to catch up on some amazing art films.

With films like Events In A Cloud Chamber {one of the only Indian experimental films made by Akbar Padamsee in 1969, there are no copies of this film in existence}, Through The Eyes Of A Painter {an experimental film by MF Hussain}, Watermelon, Fish and Ghost {fable based on a story written by Bhupen Khakhar, the celebrated painter} and The Colour Blue: Are You There Krishna. The last one is sure to be a true delight for both art and film lovers.

Art Projects That Will Inspire

With artists like Rathin Barman, Anila Quayyum Agha, Thukral, Tagra, Joël Andrianomearisoa and Brookhart Jonquil, the artists chosen for this year's India Art Fair shed light on different topics. From spectacular light installations to documentation of architectural sites in the form of sculptures and drawings, to a photographic journey into the life of Mahatma Gandhi, there will be a lot of experiences and insights that you can take away from here.

Conversations That Matter

The India Art Fair is also set to hold discussions on a range of topics that include New Directions {a talk about current gallery models in an era of change}, The Future of Museums in a Globalised World, Emerging Networks in South Asian Art among others.

Plus with prominent speakers like Richard Armstrong, Manuel Rabaté, Sheena Wagstaff among others, you're probably going to walk away that much smarter, and informed.

Curated Walks

With a focus on diverse topics, curated walks will provide you with new insights about the art scene in the country. Some of the topics that will be covered during the walks include, Exploring the Works of Young Artists, A Visual Progression from Modern to Contemporary Indian Art, and Through the Lens - Exploring Photography among others. Since most of them will take place at almost the same time, make sure you decide which one you want to attend.

In addition, there are a host of other exhibitions and performances taking place around the city. From exhibitions at Rabindra Bhavan to solo shows at Bikaner House, there is so much happening in the city to indulge the art lover in you.
