Whether you're a chemical free and organic food junkie or not, there's no denying its obvious health, and I'm hoping wealth, benefits. Hopping onto the ever-increasing sustainable foods and produce cult is FarmLove. They've launched a range of vegetables that are chemical free, like Oakleaf Lettuce, Rocket, Spinach, Chinese Cabbage and Amla, and shelves will soon see more produce such as Leek, Baby Carrot, Dill and Brussel sprouts.

As someone who follows the Delhi "organic scene", I found this new kid on the block's initiative most interesting. What started as a volunteer and rural tourism based project by the folks at Anamcaara morphed into a movement of sorts, to educate farmers and consumers about the importance of sustainable farming. That's when FarmLove was initiated. The folks at Anamcaara began working with the farming community in Mewat {Haryana}, training them to use and implement chemical free methods of farming. What they've created is a community of 'kheti buddies'- a group of farmers who now work closely with Anamcaara on employing sustainable methods for farming. They've spent over a year on the fields with the farmers, and the result is produce that comes straight to the shelves of leading retailers in Delhi and Gurgaon; Produce that is prepped, cleaned and grown in a way that not only evidently benefits us, but also cultivates a culture that supports a sector that is perpetually plagued with problems. And what's best - just because it's chemical-free, doesn't mean it's going to cost a bomb. Farm Love produce is fairly price competitive!

Notes in our Little Black Book |

FarmLove; for chemical-free, local produce. Price wise, it's fairly competitive with produce that isn't chemical-free.
