Hauz Khas’ Country Collection restores ancient furniture procured from places like Tibet, Portugal, Gujarat and Bhutan. In case you do not wish to splurge on the relatively expensive antique furniture, they’ve also got new pieces with a lovely, vintage aesthetic.

What Makes It Awesome

Just when we felt that we’ve pretty much explored all that Hauz Khas has to offer, we came across this gem of a store located right near the HKV entrance.

Country Collection is an antique decor store that has been in the village for more than 25 years. If you’re someone who loves all things antique, you’ve got more than one reason to drop by, because a lot of what this store has to offer is more than 100 years old.

One of the special things about this shop is that it restores age-old pieces of wood and furniture to create products for contemporary use. For instance, they’ve converted an antiqu,e camel cart and a 100-year old teak wood boat into beautiful, rustic shelves. Country Collection also procures antiques from across the globe, the oldest one at the store being a 200-year old one-piece wood-pounder from Nagaland. While restoring antique furniture is what they do best, they also create new furniture with a vintage. Cabinets with washed out Coco-Cola monograms, a picnic table that can be converted to a bench (we loved this!) and massive mirrors with distressed wooden frames were some of our favourites.

The only bummer here is that they don’t usually customise furniture, but what they do offer is in itself impressive.

What Could Be Better

Well, it is expensive, but hey—it's all original antiques, some of which date back to centuries ago, so that's fairly understandable.

Pro Tip

Just FYI, a lot of the pieces at their store are also on discount (some at flat 50% off), so you have more reasons to go check it out. Plus, since they’ve got pieces here that are centuries old, this store is a lot like a museum and it’s definitely worth your time.

Price: Starting at INR 400 (rolling pins) to INR 4 lakh for antique furniture (approx).
