What Is It?

Breakaway, a travel company specialising in trips off the tourist map, has an interesting textile trail around Delhi. You’ll follow a textile expert on the quest to discover the city’s best-kept secrets including a comprehensive tour of a textile museum and a visit to a shibori studio.

Who Is It For?

If you’re someone who’d be interested in delving deeper into what goes on behind the making of some of the most exquisite textiles coming out of our country, weave got your back.

Why Should I Go For It?

You’ll get to interact closely with the artisans who engage in hand printing, tie-and-dye and fabric colouring. The morning will begin with a trip to the Sanskriti Museum where a world of textiles and terracotta is waiting to tell you its story.

The group will be small {only 10 people can join at a time} but this means that you can discuss printing, weaving and a whole lot of handloom with other participants over a leisurely lunch. And finally, the most exciting bit: You go to a store that the organisers keep as top-secret. All we know is that the outlet has the largest collection of textiles from all over India.

So you’re going to come back with a lot of new things learnt and a lot of beautiful things bought.

Anything Else?

Grab four like-minded friends {that’s the minimum participation you need} and sign up for this – Breakaways is happy to organise it for groups on a date you pick. Or, register for the upcoming one on Mar 25.

If you choose to drive around in your car, the cost is INR 3,000 per person. Otherwise, its INR 3,500 for transport, lunch and facilitator fee.
