Drinks At Wholesale Prices, Dance Music & Street Food: CP’s Newest Bar, Local, Is Big & Buzzing

Just when we thought CP was done experimenting, Local came around to stir things up. It opened its doors to party hoppers with a lavish launch on Saturday and we’re hoping to make another trip just to test out food from their Chinese Van and chakhna platters. They’re calling it Delhi’s first street food bar so it’s got a great mix of party music and bharatiye snacks for a night scene with the gang.

Soon as we pushed past the crowds at the entry door, we were stunned by how big and badass Local looked. By midnight, the large space {it’s literally grand by CP standards} clearly couldn’t contain its party animals who had to jostle for space. But hey, we saw no one complain so we’re guessing all went well.

Talking of the ambience, it’s done up in all wood and steel to live up to its retro chic theme. We loved the balcony-like first floor that lets you grab a corner seat and soak in all the action downstairs as you sip wine {and lose complete track of time}. There’s even a small smoking area and an outdoor space. In case there’s ever a day CP roads aren’t packed with honking cars, we might give the latter a chance.

The menu that we didn’t see enough of, is a mix of North Indian, Chinese and Continental but with an interesting twist. From Thela Chowmein and Alloo Tikki Burgers to even masala omelette kind of options, we’d be lying we we said we weren’t impressed. Rolls, pizzas, parathas, spaghetti and even a lunch box… the variety on offer is immense. We only wish we could tell you what we liked but like we said, we didn’t see enough of it on the launch so you’re going to have to wait a bit. Oh, and you’ve probably read through wondering what about cheap booze? Yes yes, that’s happening. It’s a “wholesale bar” so there exists a special menu between noon and 7pm when you can pick from a special “local hours” menu. Post 7, if you order booze in bulk, you’ll be charged on wholesale rates. Happy now?

So, We're Saying...

On our way out, we noticed the DJ’s revolving stage as dance music and glitzy lights kept everyone on their toes. So, we promised ourselves a repeat trip strategically planned around pay day – we’ll eat chicken tikka and party like true Dilli gangsters. Hopefully, we’ll also be free enough to make it before 7pm for the MRP deals.
