White wines infused with edible floral perfumes and red wines that carry the hint of spices; Smoke House Deli’s Festival of Fragrant Sangrias from last year is back for the whole of next month.

Frankly Fragrant

With almost 40 to 50 litres of sangria being washed down at Smoke House Deli every single day across all outlets, we're excited about this one! With dry Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc doing the honours, it’s the pairings with floral aromas and pulpy fruits that add the extra twist to the whole affair.

White For Peace

Paired with an assortment of finger foods, the whites were sweet and balanced just right. Mixologist Vijay Prakash’s exact science of edible floral perfumes had us keeling over with wonder; think jasmine, lily or orchid {yep, our minds were blown too}.

La-Vanilla has the fruity goodness of peaches and elder flowers infused with vanilla. We also encountered the Cherry Blossom {fresh maraschino cherries with lavender and jasmine}. All of these apart, the Orchidée has us going gaga with a Chardonnay paired with lychees and orchids {our favourite}.

Red For Danger

If a slightly acidic drink is your thing, then the reds are perfect. The Kiss of Ceylon has a refreshing version of the Merlot with plum bits, and black grapes with a stick of Sri Lankan cinnamon. The classic Cher Rouge gets a reimagining here, with Cabernet Sauvignon coming together with Cointreau to give body to the cherries and grapes. Lastly, the Bittersweet Symphony had a burnt orange ring floating in the midst of Merlot, Cointreau and cognac.

So pick your poison and don't forget to order one of Smoke Houses’ fabulous pizzas to go with it!
