What Makes It Awesome?

Located deep inside the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, just 10 km from Ranikhet, this green hamlet of Majkhali is a perfect mountain retreat. The place is a nine-hour (approx) drive from Delhi, and a three-hour drive from Haldwani, Kathgodam, and Nainital.

The property offers an unobstructed view of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks of Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Panchchuli. The mountain chalet overlooks a gorgeous forest valley view.

The place is beautifully done, inspired by French architecture. The living room is aesthetically done with a fireplace, flowers, rosewood writing table, huge airy windows, and minimalistic furniture. So enjoy your morning coffee with the best view of the valley and the garden.

A small kitchenette adjoining the living room has basic utensils and appliances like microwave, gas stove, electric kettle, water purifier, refrigerator, and toaster. I would advise you to bring your own grocery and spices if you wish to cook, though basic grocery and vegetables are available at the nearby market which is about a kilometre from the property.

The duplex chalet has two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the lower level with fresh clean linen and toiletries. The rooms are comfortable and cosy. The third bedroom with a balcony is located on the upper deck with a fireplace which is perfect for stargazing. There is a lush green garden with a verandah for lounging on the sun beds with some beer.

If you wish to experience the local life with modern facilities, then this is the place. You can take a walk in the village with a few dotted cottages and a picturesque view. Away from the touristy crowd and obnoxious vehicle traffic, this is the best place to relax and have a laidback holiday.

The host and owner of the property, Mr Akshay will make sure that the things are arranged prior to the arrival. Mr Prem, the supervisor, will make sure that the stay is comfortable. The caretaker, Ganga, is a sweet lady who will help you with cooking the food and cleaning the house.

Ranikhet once proposed to be the capital of British area, has colonial bungalows which still exist in its natural glory. Managed by the army, this cantonment area is eco-friendly and a green destination. You can explore the nearby Golf course, Jhula Devi temple, war museum, rani jheel, and vast meadows or just relax in the cottage and read your favourite book.

The nearest market is about a kilometre from the property and has basic grocery shops, vegetable vendors, a wine shop, and few local eating joints. The place is a heaven for photographers, travellers, stargazers, and nature lovers. So pack your bags and head to this chalet for a blissful experience of watching a sunrise over the snow-covered peak.

Few tips:
- Jio network doesn't work there though the place has WiFi. Other networks might also have interruptions
- The nearby market closes by 7:30 pm, so stock your daily needs on time
- The local people try to keep the area clean so respect the environment
- There is " The Cafe" nearby which is a must-visit for the breathtaking view, and you can pre-order apple pies and fruit cakes from their special menu
