What Makes It Awesome

The first two things that strike your mind when you hear the name “Lajpat Nagar” (hereby LN) are shopping and Dolma Aunty, this article looks beyond both and covers the other things that you can do when you reach the main market of the iconic city hub.

We were a group of around 20 people, different professions, locations and preferences, but united by the love for food.

We started off with the Jhakkas Pav Bhaji, which is located in LN-2, hardly 5 mins walk from gate no. 5 of the metro station. A tiny outlet with no seating but food of superior quality, that’s the best I can describe it. They offer Pav Bhaji and Dabeli, with a twist of cheese or the classic, whichever you prefer. Their quality of Bhaji is what does the trick.

Our next stop was just across the street, named Ram Laddoo Food Corner, it offers Ram Laddoo and pakodas, personal favourite would be the Mirchi Pakoda, don’t go by the name, it can be enjoyed without getting teary eyed.

Next destination needed a bit of walking, it was Golden Fiesta, the legendary outlet has expanded it’s menu to cope up with changing times, though it needs to amp up the taste quotient. Personally was not that satisfied with their Chinese Platter, both veg and non-veg.

To wrap up our food excursion, we headed to Avantika Food Corner, the place is famous for their Chinese cuisine, so it was needed to make up for the last misadventure. When the food came, it included polar opposites, the Hakka Noodles were tasty but quite bland, good for non-spicy-food people, but the Chilli Garlic Noodles had it all, challenging enough for the toughest spice fanatics.

On and all, there’s always something new to do wherever you head to, do explore the areas, you might uncover lots of hidden gems.
