Shots in the Dark | An evening of Screenings and Snacks

The information in this post might be outdated

As the evenings get cooler, Delhi and Gurgaonwaalas are more open to trying new and cool things, especially things that involve balconies, terraces or sprawling lawns. Shaadis and Diwali are on the cards, and they bring with them lots of Bollywood music, sangeet dances and skits, and we've even seen some Bollywood references in card variations {ever played the sing-a-Govinda-song-when-you-pack variation?}. If you love your evening drink accompanied by the gentle breeze outdoors, and enjoy your dose of music and references from Indian films, we're bringing the silver screen and service on a silver platter, straight to your seat; with some liquid spirit courtesy Berentzen!

LBB presents Shots in the Dark, an evening of screenings of short films, at Dramz Whiskey Bar in Mehrauli. Delhi’s premium Whiskey Bar is playing host to 7 short films, of both Indian and International origin, giving you a whole new perspective on film making sensibilities, something we've all been curious about at some point in a 4 hour Bollywood family drama from a giant Indian production house. The line up boasts some films from Dilli, including LBB's very own project Ctrl.Alt.Delhi, and even an Oscar nominated film!

Set against the stars, with the Qutub Minar making for a glorious view between films, this evening promises to be one that is both entertaining and enlightening. Take a break from the traditional clubs and diamonds associated with Diwali season; take a shot at something different - an all new Whiskey Bar, and a screening of some rare gems in filmmaking, handpicked for you by Shamiana.

Here's what you can look forward to:

Indian Films

Film One : Blouse

Duration: 19 minutes

Produced by a young production house in Bombay, Taxi Films. Blouse was shot in a village on the outskirts of Allahbad. The film has an unusually amusing premise – a man is desperate to gift his wife a much desired blouse, sans her measurement. The film won Best Short Film at the New York Film Festival this year.

Films from Dilli

Film Two : Touching Story

Duration : 7 minutes

A film that documents the life of an everyday figure - a security guard. Sound mundane? You're in for a pleasant surprise

Film Three : How to Drive in Delhi

Duration : 3 minutes

Traffic rules and regulations for the city that the Department of Transport will never share with! If you're a Dilliwaala, this one will totally hit home.

Film Four : Holy Cow

Duration : 1 minute

Slice of life’ cinema, anyone? This one is the shortest film of the evening, made by one of Delhi’s most promising film production houses, Uncommonsense Films.

Film Five : Ctrl. Alt. Delhi

Duration :

LBB's own foray into filmmaking {well, the idea to make one anyway}, the film is made by A Little Anarky, and is a short capsule of everyday life in Delhi, things we see around us, but we aren't really looking. Fun, fast paced, totally relatable.

International

Film Six: Surviving a Funeral

Duration : 11 minutes

A dramedy about a 26-year old music writer returning to his hometown for his grandfather's funeral. Through the course of the day's chaotic events, he struggles to reconnect with his hostile sister and despondent mother, all while trying to rediscover the place he once called home.

Film Seven: Time Freak

Duration : 11 minutes

A short film about a neurotic inventor who creates a time machine and gets lost travelling around yesterday. Get this - it is an Oscar nominated film!

Time: 5.30 pm onwards

Where:  1580/1, Kalka Das Marg, Mehrauli, Near Qutab Minar
