The latest edition of Amity Gurugram Marathon is here and nothing keeps it short of being the Top Indian Marathon of 2020. Into the 7th year, the marathon has given Gurugram a reason to get fit. So, here are some tips for you to be able to run your best marathon ever. 

1. Start Early

Fitness is a conscious choice one makes, one that needs a whole lot of commitment and constant motivation. Sign up for a race, and we dare say, Amity Gurugram Marathon is the way to go, and set yourself to a goal. Knowing what you are working towards gives the extra kick to the preps. The sooner you sign up, the sooner you will hit those running tracks.

2. You may be quick, but can you endure it?

Treading the natural course of the track is a test of endurance. Start slower, go for longer. Pace up when you champion the longer miles. You can also try out sports like swimming, cycling and tennis to break the pattern as they are really good to build stamina. If you sign up for the Amity Marathon, you can also take part in the pre-event activities and boot camps that really drive you to work on your endurance and marathon skills.

3. What’s on your feet matters!

Get the right gear! And we can’t stress enough on this one. Find the right fit, comfort and cushion. Give those shoes rest before the run. Another understated element we recommend: invest in high quality socks that are both comfortable and protective. 

4. Know when you need to rest

A good run doesn’t mean never slowing down. Practice will help you understand when your body needs a break. Also, a lot of seasoned runners participate at the Amity Gurugram marathon who lead the group as pacers. Find your pacer and stick with them through the run to complete your run in a set time limit.

5. Treat your drink right!

Running makes you lose a lot of body fluids and it’s essential to take short, frequent water breaks during the run. Lucky for you, marathon will have water dispensers at adequate distances. 

6. Find a running buddy

7. Stretch the right way

8. Eat well and eat right

Food is Fuel. Literally! Up your protein intakes, they can do magic to your recovery from a run and help you strengthen those tired muscles. What’s also important is, what you eat before the race. Consuming carbohydrates for lunch and a light dinner will give you a light stomach for the run. 

9. Map Your Competition?

Study the course before the race. It’ll help you understand the distance and the stretch. Know that it’ll become hard before it gets easier. Another piece of info that is of interest, AGM route map has been approved by Athletics Federation of India and the track is managed on the day of run by Gurugram Traffic Police, now doesn’t that give us a lot of confidence already?!
