Ten-Second Takeaway

Ah, soup. Is it a starter? Is it a main? Or is it something else entirely?

While you’re trying to figure that out, we must admit right now that we’re big fans of it. Whether it’s a piping hot manchow in the winter or a refreshing gazpacho in the summer, we could eat them all day long. So naturally, we compiled a list of must-try soup locations for all you Gurgaon foodies.

California Boulevard

With seven soups, including a French Onion Soup with a cheese crouton and the Brie Chicken Soup, California Boulevard is a good place to appease your cravings. We hear the Penang Curry Laksa is quite divine, too. In cold soups—for a summer’s day—they have a brand new version of the Gazpacho which sounds delicious.

The Monk - The Galaxy Hotel

Another pan-Asian joint, and an old favourite. Monk offers four soups, but it is their bowls of soupy noodles where they shine. The Curry Laksa with Udon Noodles in Singaporean Style is a knock-out, while they have six other veg and non-veg options with flat rice noodles, wheat noodles or rice noodles to choose from.

Café Delhi Heights

The burgers and appetisers at Café Delhi Heights are the stars, but they do have a decent soup selection, too. They have nine classic soup options such as the Hot N Sour Soup and Home Style Tomato Soup, but also have hearty dishes like the lamb broth and Mushroom Cappuccino {sounds weird, but it’s only served in a coffee mug}.

One of the options is, of course, the Soup Du Jour, or soup of the day. We’re also intrigued by the Cheddar Cheese and Beer Soup.

Prego - The Westin Gurgaon

This fine dining Italian restaurant offers delectable soups for the more refined among us. Their Traditional Tuscan Soup {minestrone-based} and Cream of Field Mushrooms Soup are classics. However with such Italian fare on the table, why miss out on the Classic Italian Tomato and Bread Soup, served with black olives and mozzarella. Be still, our grumbling stomachs!

Big Wong

With two locations in Gurgaon, Big Wong offers patrons only Asian soups. The Tom Yum is, of course, the star, but the menu also includes well-known delights like the Manchow Soup, Tom Kha Soup, Hot and Sour Soup and Seafood Soup.

The Joint Café

A meat-eaters’ delight, The Joint Café makes it on our list for their heady stews. Now before you get all technical on us, they do have some classic soups. However their six stews are perfect winter-time concoctions. Think of rushing in from the cold for a steaming bowl of Tenderloin Bourguignon {tenderloin, bacon, mushroom and red wine stew} or the Garbure {a South Western brew full of fresh veggies}.

All stews, except the Guinea Fowl Au Vin {served with butter rice}, are served with fresh bread because, because let’s face it; what’s a stew without a little dipping?

#LBBTip

We’ve heard good things about the Beef Noodle Soup at Sona Bridge Hotel in DLF Phase I.
