Ambica Gulati recommends: The Chalet's Naldehra, Shimla

Famous for its pinewood cottages and a revolving restaurant, The Chalet’s Naldehra is located close to the famous Naldehra Golf Course. With manicured lawns, blooming flowers, lots of birds, an indoor heated swimming pool, a spa, a small gym, and room for activities, this hilly resort is a place to forget the world.

Akshita Zutshi recommends: Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur

The property is built right in the middle of Lake Pichola, overlooking the City Palace. Being an island property, it is known for its beautiful view. I liked everything, from the food to the rooms, the spa, and all the services – things were just flawless. The staff, in particular, is undoubtedly one of the best that I have come across. Talking about food, you must try the Indian and Mewari cuisine at The Neel Kamal restaurant. The Warqi parantha and the Gatta Curry tops the list.

Mahima Agarwal recommends: Kunga & Nick's Italian Kitchen, Mcleodganj

Kunga & Nick’s Italian Kitchen offers a mix of Tibetan, Chinese, Indian, and Italian dishes, along with a breathtaking view of the mountains. This cosy little joint on Bhagsu Road does the best Grilled Veg Cheese sandwich, which came stuffed with fresh bell peppers, zucchini, and lots of cheese. Their classic fries and salad’s a great addition, too. Don’t leave the resturant without trying their coffee (a bestseller at Nick’s) and Walnut Brownie.

Sakthivel Singaravelan recommends: Dive Ghat, Maharashtra

With a spectacular sunrise view and beautiful mountains, Dive Ghat is a must-visit for everyone. It seems as though the sun is floating between the mountains. This place is paradise for all the photographers. However, I do wish that the place was better-maintained.

Tejaswini Nair recommends: Shangri La Home Stay, Karnataka

Located 7 kms downhill from the slope from Abby Falls, Shangri-la homestay is a hidden gem in the scenic peaks of Madalpati. Our host, Jaya, made us feel at home right away and was always at our service. The home-made pork curry and chicken curry served was authentic and delicious. For breakfast, we had Pulihora and Rice Balls (which is a staple food of Coorg) with coconut chutney. My favourite part of the trip was right after dinner, when we sat in the verandah and spotted fireflies.

Gary Sumitt recommends: Jim Corbett National Park, Nainital

Jim Corbett National Park, a 6-hour drive from Delhi, is one of the best places for Royal Bengal Tiger. Everything from being out there in the wilderness to the predators of the tigers makes Corbett a dream destination for umpteen wildlife aficionados worldwide. I stayed at the Tiger Den Resort while I was in Corbett, and it was an amazing experience. Chill in the swimming pool, go for a morning safari or a museum tour – there’s just so much to do.

Divanshi Madaan recommends: Neemrana Fort Palace

This palace is just 3 hours away from Delhi, and even closer to Gurgaon. We booked a package that cost us INR 4,999 and included an overnight stay, access to all the areas in the fort, swimming pool, evening snacks and their lavish breakfast spread. From that breakfast, the folk music in the evening, room service, sunset view to the early morning dive in the pool, everything was just spectacular. Since the dinner wasn’t included in the package, we decided to search some affordable restaurants near the fort and stopped by one named Hotel Tokas.

Pallavi Gupta recommends: Marchula Bridge, Nainital

Well, if you have been to Jim Corbett and asked around, you would have heard about the Marchula bridge, but what you might not know is that there is a perfectly hidden Sangam point to behold. The place falls right in the middle of Jim Corbett and Nainital. And, if you are travelling here by road, then you are in for a treat – the view is gorgeous. A two-hour drive is a win-win. Hiking down the hidden stairways tucked in a corner of a rundown shop leads to this paradise, where you can have this natural infinity pool {pictured} all by yourself.

Anushka Mishra recommends: Chakrata

Bored of Mussoorie? Well, don’t worry because Chakrata, with its many activities like water-rappelling, trekking etc., and pretty landscapes, as well as the relatively less crowded valleys is actually a better alternative. However, It would have been great if there were better hotels and resorts.

Ragini Mehra recommends: The Gateway Resort Damdama Lake, Gurgaon

The Gateway Resort Damdama Lake is one of the few hotels that lets you bring your four-legged furry friends along. The resort has huge spaces to run around, lots of water all around you and offers delicious food options. Also, while your dog rests in the grand room after playtime, you can head to one of their three luxury restaurants for a great date. They also have a lot of indoor games, a huge cricket field and excellent arrangements for adventure activities like zip-lining, bridge-crossing, wall-rappelling, archery and more.

Mayur Bansal recommends: V Resorts Monolith, Nainital

V Resorts Monolith, just 300 km away in the little town of Bhimtal, is an absolutely gorgeous property. The rooms are cosy, and have a typical mountain-like structure and feel to them. We opted for an independent cottage, which has a separate terrace as well so you can chill and enjoy some evening tea with some fresh air. Though the people are really nice, the in-house services let us down a bit.

Tail Magic (Pravin) recommends: The White Peaks, Uttarakhand

The White Peak homestay is a beautiful, little cottage located in the elusive Himalayan hamlet of Gagar in Uttarakhand. A boutique, pet-friendly homestay, it is perfect for writers, poets, bird-watchers, and yes, pet parents who just want to get away from the city with their pets and enjoy the feeling of comfort, warmth, and relaxation. Oh, and Gagar is around 340 km – that’s almost seven to eight hours from Delhi via Hapur, which makes it an ideal weekend getaway destination.

VNA camp resorts in Rishikesh offer a great view of the hills, and the river flowing right before you. This place is by a beach, next to the river Ganges, which makes it the best place to unwind yourself as you listen to the peaceful sound of water streaming downhill. Another attraction of the place is the hanging bridge, a mini Laxman Jhula, which one has to cross over the river Ganges in order to reach the campsite. VNA camp is located at Marine Drive, which is 27 km from Rishikesh.

Karishma Govil recommends: Flugler Hostels, Dharamshala

Flügler Hostels, located in Upper Dharamkot, is where you should stay when you want to run away from the maddening crowd. The view is beautiful, the dorms super-clean, and the food is amazing. Its location is really good for people who want to trek to Triund. The infrastructure is great, with a cosy terrace and an even cosier common room. The food is absolutely delicious – the open toasts and the chicken sandwiches are definitely worth trying.
