Ghantewala, the Oldest Mithai Shop in Delhi Shuts After 225 Years!

Editors posted on 2nd July

Ghantewaala, the mithai shop opened its doors way back in 1790 and has catered to Mughal Emperors, Presidents, Prime Ministers {Rajiv Gandhii was a frequent visitor} and the masses alike. We have all, at some point or the other been wooed by their delectable soham halwa and motichoor laddoos.

Being operational for over two centuries, we thought Ghantewaala would be around forever but whoever said all good things come to an end couldn’t have been more spot on. Wednesday {1st July} was the last time Ghantewaala served its last batch of mithai to some very lucky customers. And with that, we bid goodbye to this iconic spot in our beloved capital city.

We will miss you Ghantewaala. Here’s wishing that it miraculously crops back and feeds us lots more halwa!
