One of the most iconic religious spots in the country is all set to embark on the organic path.

Karanvir Singh from NDTV wrote in this report that Guru Ramdas Langar Hall at Sri Harmandir Sahib aka The Golden Temple will soon be serving only organic food.

As per Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee {SGPC}, the use of chemicals and pesticides has to be cut down. As a result, grains, fruit and vegetables will be grown using sustainable agricultural methods at Patiala and Gurdwara Gurusar Satlani Sahib near Amritsar.

For a kitchen that serves close to 1,00,000 people on a daily basis {for free!}, that’s setting quite the benchmark there. We’re hoping others will follow suit.
