Got A Plain Tee Or Dupatta? Bring It Along To This Hand Block Printing Workshop

Ipsita posted on 4th February

What Is It?

There are a few things that fit into the ‘timeless’ umbrella, and we feel the art of block printing is one of them. You can now learn this centuries’ old traditional art form from Rajasthan at this DIY workshop. You’ll be in the hands of a master artisan, who’ll impart his knowledge and skills to you and even help you create your very own masterpiece.

Who Is It For?

Love DIY projects? You’ll love this. Especially if you also a nurse a soft spot for Indian art and craft forms. As long as you’re above the age of 14, you’re good to go.

Why Should I Go For It?

Need a creative outlet after a mechanical week at work? This might be exactly what you need to unwind. The workshop will start off with giving you a short historical perspective and a guided tour of the Indian Textile Museum. They’ll take you through the different stages in the printing process with the help of swatches. You can then go ahead and pick up a carved teak wooden block, dip it in the dye of your choice and get started.

Anything Else?

You can bring in a piece of clothing or textile {stole, dupatta, T-shirt or even a handkerchief is okay, as long as it is cotton or silk} and get as creative as you want with the patterns. All the materials and dyes will be provided at the workshop along with a nice organic lunch and tea during break time.
