Gurgaon Roads To Be Car-Free Every Tuesday

The information in this post might be outdated

If we’re completely honest, we don’t live in the most sustainable city. Most of us don’t recycle, we have too many cars and the pollution is a different story altogether. Corrective measures are always welcome though, and this time Gurgaon has come around: Certain parts of the city will be car-free on all Tuesdays, from 7am - 7pm.

What, when, where & why?

With over 60,000 cars making use of DLF Cyber City, Cyber Park area, Golf Course Road and Electronic City in Udyog Vihar-IV, this initiative comes as a way to encourage the use of public transport as well as reduce omissions and traffic for at least one day of the week. Fret not, a private company called Shuttl.com looks to provide shuttles to and fro from all big metro stations to make sure your work day isn’t de-railed.

What else?

The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), the Municipal Council of Gurgaon (MCG), the Gurgaon Police and the Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon are all on-board and look at this as a chance to improve the condition of the roads. The MCG will even provide cycles to people who wish to walk or cycle on these days.

We think it’s time we cut down the pollution, don’t you?
