IMAG4991 Count Your Calories Before They Hatch: Healthy RoutesPan Seared Basa with Lemon Caper Sauce, Chicken Dim Sum

Daily Detox, Mixed Fruit Juice

For creating a healthy chocolate mousse!

Low cal, high taste

The menu, in addition to descriptions of the various dishes, also states the number of calories each dish contains. This, paired with the countless number of framed posters bearing inspirational quotes about health and fitness, makes for an ideal place to finally embark upon that healthy journey you promise yourself at the beginning of every year.

We began our meal here with the Daily Detox juice {this is essentially the ABC infused with lots of honey; if you don’t like it super sweet, make sure you ask them to keep the honey quantity low}, followed by the Chicken Quinoa Salad {a giant bowl of lettuce with chicken bits, olives, sun-dried tomatoes in a balsamic vinegar dressing} and the flourless Chicken Dim Sum {these are like meatballs, covered with a layer of brown rice}.

Sweet and sour bites

IMG_20160119_145132 Count Your Calories Before They Hatch: Healthy RoutesThe highlight of our meal was easily the Pan Seared Basa with Lemon Caper Sauce- the fish was tender, grilled to perfection and the sauce had just the slightest tinge of sourness to it; our only complaint would perhaps be the over-salted vegetables on the side. If the cold’s got you craving a steaming bowl of soup, get the Oriental Chicken Hot Pot comprising chunks of chicken and vegetables {including lotus stems} in a spicy sauce with a sprinkle of brown rice.

Whereas dessert and health don’t usually go hand in hand, Healthy Routes has options such as the Banoffee Pie, Dark Chocolate Mousse and Low Fat Phirnee. We tried the mousse, which was surprisingly rich and creamy, owing to the use of hung curd.

We’re going back to try the Chicken Eggs {boiled eggs stuffed with chicken chaat and vegetables} and bookmarking Healthy Routes for all guilt-free indulgences.
