What Makes It Awesome

There's a Zostel in Dalhousie that is parked in a beautiful spot overlooking the lush valleys of Chamba. Staying true to the brand’s promise, it’s not just super affordable, it’s got everything you need to make a holiday memorable – books, a open air cafe, board games and the chance to forge new friendships at no extra cost.

If you’ve ever gone to Shimla-type hill-stations on a long weekend, you’ll know that you’re more likely to bump into your speaker bearing neighbours than an unsuspecting mountain goat there. So, we’ve promised to leave the typical mountain places be for a bit. Thankfully for us, Dalhousie’s distance has prevented it from making it to most holiday planners’ radars, and we can’t tell you how happy this makes us – we’re ready to travel longer if it means we’ll have our pancakes and cold evenings in peace.

If you share our wavelength, plan a stay at Zostel Dalhousie sometime. The sight of the mountains from the window and the wall art will call out to you and it’s so comfortable it’ll reignite your long forgotten love affair with hostel life all over again.

If you’re going with a pal/squad, you can pick between the cute twin-sharing room or the one with four bunk beds. More good news: There’s a kitchen to make cup Maggi at midnight and a lounge where you can watch unlimited TV.

Once you see their rooftop or find that sweet spot in the common room with a board game, you may never want to leave. But those rare ones who do plan on venturing out won’t be disappointed either.

There are picturesque waterfalls around that were made for picnics. If, however, you had to do one and only one thing, we’d say, reserve a few hours for Khajjiar. People call the town India’s own Switzerland and it’s not difficult to guess why. The meadows are a sight to behold and the lake is every traveller’s favourite place. If lake’s not for you, try zorbing (there are opportunities in Khajjiar) or go up to the Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary where you might even spot a bear.

Sounds exciting, right?
