What's Happening

Hornbill Festival, Nagaland Tourism Board's 10-day long cultural feast, is back this December for another edition. You can expect to experience the culture and traditions of the major tribes of Nagaland in the form of traditional dances, songs, shopping stalls, traditional archery, Naga wrestling, food fairs, and even a musical concert at the festival.

Visitors to the festival need to get an Inner Line Permit issued by the government and you can obtain it from the Deputy Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, Delhi.

Tickets for Hornbill Festival are available at the venue and you don't need to book them in advance. However, you'll need to buy an entry ticket for each day. You'll also have to pay an INR 50 fee to carry your DSLR camera inside the venue.

How's The Venue

The venue for the event is the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama, which is about 12 km from Kohima. The nearest railhead and airport is in Dimapur and Kohima is a three-hour drive from there.

Pro-Tip

There aren't a ton of accommodation options available in Kohima, so make your bookings for the festival well in advance. Also, do try the rice beer and silkworms when you're there. They are SUPERB!
