For a dose of protein and energy, the smoothie section is worth looking at. Available in a variety of flavours such as Chocolate Peanut Butter, Strawberry and Mixed Berry, and Coffee Cinnamon, these are sweetened with honey. You can opt for a shot of protein powder and nuts too. Or alternatively, skip on them.

If you’re just looking for a healthy way to cleanse your system without filling up your tummy, the juice and vegetable mixes are great.

Platters that don’t make you fatter

Hwealthcafe has a bunch of combo meals, which include a main dish served with brown rice and an assortment of dips.

You can also opt for add-ons such as herbed couscous, sauteed vegetables, chicken breast, fish or salad. We liked the Thai Grilled Chicken Meal Platter and the Chettinad Chicken Meal Platter {order this if you like your food spicy}. All this without any sugar, refined flour, white rice, butter, ghee or mayo.

Or you could call it a wrap with the Grilled Chicken burger {comprising a beautifully-textured patty and stellar toppings served with a side of fresh salad} or the chickpea version, a sandwich, salad or a…wrap. They’ve also got a few brekkie options. We tried the Eggs N Green Breakfast which consisted of scrambled eggs and broccoli.

If you’re ordering in {they deliver within a four kilometre radius}, we’d suggest keeping your oven ready as the food got pretty clammy, and a regular microwave won’t do justice to the burgers and wraps. But you could also head down to their cafe; they have a small place done up in white brick walls and lime green chairs. Ideal for a summery brunch or lunch.

PS: They also have a section on skinny desserts. We tried the Brown Sugar Pan Tossed Apple Tart; however, it left us pretty unsatiated so you may want to stick to fruit.
