What is It?

IGNCA’s multi-form Reference Library organises a monthly event—usually a book reading by an Indian author. This month they are playing host to Sukrita Paul Kumar who will be reading from her book of poems, Dream Catcher.

Sukrita Paul Kumar currently holds the Aruna Asaf Ali Chair at Cluster Innovation Centre, University of Delhi, and is a renowned poet. She has published several collections of poetry, is a painter and has authored and co-edited major critical works.

Who is It for?

Poetry is all the rage in Delhi this spring, with numerous poetry slams happening around town. While this book reading session may not have the electrifying energy of a poetry slam, expect it to soothe your soul with evocative word-pictures.

The poems in this collection come from her various sojourns around the world, or from imaginary terrains sieved from her memory of dream-like reality. Wanderlust may or may not be a side effect; don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Why Should I Go for It?

Sukrita Paul Kumar is a seasoned poet and this session will satiate your craving for nuanced storytelling. This poet has a gift for self-reflexivity, and will send you home with some reflecting of your own to do.
