From the get go, we were spoiled by the Rajasthani hospitality, and we pampered through and through. While you can pick from deluxe, fort facing, city facing and the Royal Room which is kitted out with swanky and lavish, why not splurge a bit in favour of the Marriott Jaisalmer Suite. Featuring a window day bed to sip on a glass of wine (or coffee) while reading a book, a deep soaking tub to help you unwind, and with views of the lovely courtyard, it’s quite the treat.
As much as the bedroom will make you want to stay indoors, Jaisalmer’s charm is in the fort, and the desert land. Luckily, Marriott will plan it all out for you. All you need to do is pick your kind of adventure and show up! If romantic dinners is what you’re after, they can organise a dinner on the dunes watching the sun go down. Make sure you book a champagne breakfast the following day, with views of the fort itself. Apart from the eating, you can even go on a culinary trail and learn how to cook the local cuisine. Those looking for a proper adventure, sign up for bike trails that will help you explore traditions, culture, history and marvellous architecture of the city, in your own time.
Make sure to leave some time to hit up the Quan Spa for a seriously rejuvenating massage, which by the way, is personalised to suit your body, and the aches and pains you may have. Or chill by the pool and soak up the sun. When you need to indulge the tummy though, the resort has a fabulous rooftop restaurant, an Indian restaurant, a kitchen garden restaurant which uses only local ingredients, that the chef will then cook you a rustic meal with, and my personal favourite - The Mithai Company, a chaat and sweets corner for those who love to snack and munch on the go!
