This Lesser-Known Japanese Restaurant In Gurgaon Is A Real Crowd-Pleaser

Shortcut

The food does most of the talking at this Japanese restaurant. The sweet, saucy smell lingering in the air will draw you away from the Indian-inspired Asian food in the city and, so, if it’s absolute authenticity that you crave, Kyoto is for you.

About The Ambience

With Japanese-style seating, untidy sauce bottles resting on the table and the air conditioning huffing and puffing away, the atmosphere felt a lot like that of Andhra Bhavan – and we speak purely of the vibe of the restaurant. The place is crowded with Japanese nationals and you’ll find very few Indians among the crowd. Our curiosity peaked, we couldn’t wait to get a table.

Raving About The Ramen

Starting with Japanese tea, served in a traditional ceramic cup, is a good decision; the tea is strong and refreshing and roused our senses awake, we started to take things seriously.

This was followed by hand-rolled prawn sushi, with a roasted sesame base and flavored rice. The prawn on top was forgiving and not raw, tasted fantastic with a dash of soy sauce, accompanied with potent wasabi and finely carved ginger.

We couldn’t resist getting a bowl of ramen and so we ordered the Roast Pork Ramen in Miso sauce. The dish was a heavenly bowlful of soup with assorted seaweed, happy pork portions and soft ramen. Don’t leave without trying this.

Must-Try

We ordered the Prawn Tempura sushi on the chef’s recommendation. The sweetness of the prawn tempura in the middle of the sushi makes for a delightful gastronomical experience. We were digging the fried green vegetables with oyster sauce which was crooning of authenticity and rich flavours. If you’ve still got an appetite for experiments, have a Sh?ch? {Japanese white liquor}.

So, We're Saying..

If your taste buds tingle for wasabi and you’re a true-blue fan of sushi and sashimi, we definitely suggest binging at Kyoto. Don’t forget to say ‘Arigatou Gozaimasu’ on your way out, which is Japanese for ‘thank you’.

Ramen out!
