Check Out The Jitish Kallat Retrospective If You Haven’t Already

Poorna posted on 25th February

What Is It?

Here After Here is Jitish Kallat’s mid-career retrospective on at the National Gallery Of Modern Art {NGMA}.

Perhaps one of the most well-known names in contemporary Indian art, this has been curated by art historian Catherine David ‘Here After Here’ and it displays artwork spanning the 20 years {1992 – 2017} of Kallat’s career.

Who Is It For?

This exhibition will be especially pleasing and informative to art enthusiasts, photographers, artists and students. We think anyone with a free day can go and spend a good number of hours here.

Why Should I Go For It?

You will see a lot of familiar work if you’ve been keeping a track of the artist’s shows and also a lot of works from his exhibits around the world. Paintings, installations, photographs, Jitish Kallat’s work deals with concepts depicting notions of time, mortality and the ways of a city. Like the series of photographs titled 365 Lives {2007}, which is a photo installation of images showing dents, bumps and scratches on vehicles.

When: Until Mar 14; 10am – 5pm {closed on Mondays and national holidays}

Where: National Gallery of Modern Art, Jaipur House, India Gate

Price: INR 20
