Here's A List Of Long Weekends For 2018 & Some Ideas On Where You Should Be Holidaying

The information in this post might be outdated

This year is coming to an end and there’s no better way to celebrate than plan holidays for 2018. So, we’re telling you every long weekend you can consider and a plausible plan to be out and about. Thank us later.

Republic Day

When: Friday, January 26

We’re Saying: Make your long weekend lit{erary} and go visit Jaipur for the Literature Fest which happens to fall on that weekend. This sunny hostel is close to Diggi Palace or you can try Zostel. After you’ve saved up money for another day, let our one-day itinerary guide you to the best to see, do and experience in the pink city.

Mahashivratri

When: Tuesday, February 13

We’re Saying: You’ll have to take Monday off, but that’s okay when you get a long weekend out of it. There’s this organic farm not too far from the city or if you’re in the mood to splurge, Peepal Kothi is a great option as well. Oh, and a colleague found this airbnb, also near Gurgaon, that’s ideal for pool-and-hammock time with bae.

Holi

When: Friday, March 2

We’re Saying: If partying at one of those big, boozy {and maybe slightly rowdy} Holi bashes in town aint your thing, you can plan a short vacay to this gorgeous riverside resort in Corbett. Here are alternatives in case you lose out on this one because you’ve been too lazy.

Good Friday

When: Friday, March 30

We’re Saying: Take an overnight bus and spend a weekend in McLeod Ganj. You can spend two whole days basking in the sun, eating at bakeries {oh, hi Shiva Cafe} and exploring walking trails. Stay at this beautiful hostel that won’t cost a bomb.

Id-Ul-Fitr

When: Friday, June 15

We’re Saying: Head to Lansdowne with the gang for a quick recharge. Pet-friendly hill dogs and chill in hammocks at this resort and make sure you visit this amazing cafe at least once.

Janmashtami

When: Monday, September 3

We’re Saying: Gather your gang and head to this private forest reserve to try everything from night safaris to rappelling and quad biking to paintball.

Gandhi Jayanti

When: Tuesday, October 2

We’re Saying: Mussoorie will be full of Delhi folks but just a little ahead is a gem of a place called Landour. This lovely, award-winning cottage is where you need to stay.

Dusshera

When: Friday, October 19

We’re Saying: Drive to Bharatpur to see birds you’ve only seen in your science textbooks. Stay at this restored haveli and maybe a meal at their terrace restaurant, watching over the village, might turn out to be the second big highlight of your vacay.

Diwali

When: Wednesday, November 7

We’re Saying: Diwali is falling in the middle of the week this time, but we’re hoping you have a kind employer giving you holidays before or after. We think you should totally book that flight to Goa to get some beach vibes. Book this pool villa that’s a steal if you’re going in a group. Bring on the seafood and King’s beer already!

Christmas

When: Tuesday, December 25

We’re Saying: Rajasthan’s lovely this time around and Udaipur has a piece of our heart. Stay at this unique museum resort if you’re feeling indulgent or this hostel with stunning views {and lake views all day long} if you’re too old {and broke} to be resort-ing to big properties.
