Master of Naan: Mama Chur Chur Naan for a Quick Bite

Just outside Green Mark metro station stands a thela bearing a big blue board with the name Mama Chur Chur Naan on it. What’s on offer? Piping hot vegetable-stuffed naans prepared in a tandoor right in front of you.

Hot stuff

Local metro commuters know how insipid food can get while you’re on the go, and don’t have tiffins full of mummy ke haath ka khana. Mama comes to the rescue in this situation, with its wafting aroma of atta.

Choose from Pyaaz and Gobhi, and watch your naan stick to the side of the tandoor and blossom into their fluffy forms. Each naan is served with a choice of vegetable or chhole and a cup of raita {we initially thought this was lassi, don’t be fooled}.

Not so chur chur

They serve their naans on a plastic disposable thali and even though they have very limited space to stand, we’d still suggest eating it right there rather than opting for takeaway, as they get soggy and don’t taste as good. They’re also pretty low on salt, which we like, but if you find it too bland, there’s always the masaledar raita to compensate.

Mama’s Chur Chur naan is not chur chur, as per us, but for a quick substantial meal while you’re flitting from destination A to B, it’s a stellar option.
