A March To Reclaim Public Spaces For Women In The City: Join #IWillGoOut This Saturday

Sunaina posted on 19th January

What Is it?

#IWillGoOut is a nation-wide march to be held on Jan 21 to raise questions about equitable access to public spaces by women and other marginalised communities. This initiative is put together by a collective of individuals and organisations across various cities in India that strongly denounce violence against women. They are very active about creating public spaces devoid of any sort of fear or threat for women across different cities.

The march is planned across 20 cities in the country and is scheduled to take off at the same time.

Who Is It For?

Anyone and everyone who feels strongly for the cause should march this Saturday. If you feel threatened as a woman who can’t be safe in places in your city {Delhi}, you should get out on the street and voice out exactly how you feel.

Why Should I Go For it?

190117_WomenMarch_01After Nirbhaya and the following uproar, we thought there would be heightened security in the cities across the country w.r.t. women safety, though that hasn't been the case, evident by the Bangalore molestation case.

Anything Else?

In Delhi, the march will start promptly at 5pm. The starting point is Barakhamba Road {via Tolstoy Road} and it’ll end at Jantar Mantar. To keep yourself up to date with the event, follow them here. Make some banners and posters if you feel spirited enough and want to scream out for your cause.

When: Jan 21

Where: Barakhamaba Road {assembling point}
