How to Help Relief Efforts for the Nepal Earthquake

Praying is always welcome, but with a death toll at 3600 and rising, our neighbors need all the help they can get. The  Here's where and how you can be of assistance. It goes without saying that we extend our love, prayers and support to the country in this unfortunate time, but this is your call to action. We strongly urge you to do/donate any thing you can, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant.

As for what they require, Urgent relief material comprises dry rations, tents, matches, tarp, blankets/sleepings bags, feeding bottles, baby food, packaged food, sanitary napkins and essential medicines.

Global Red Cross

The global red cross network, led by the Nepal Red Cross, has an international relief effort to provide emergency assistance. They've so far allocated 300,000 toward relief work in affected areas. And yes, you can donate. Click here to do.

Prabal Gurung and Shikshya Foundation Nepal 

The Nepalese-American designer has set up a donation fund in association with Shikshya Foundation Nepal. You have open access to see who donated what amount, and can enlist to disclose yourself as well. Their current amount raised stands at $178,007, and for you to take that figure up, click here. 

Global Giving

A charity fundraising website, they've set up a relief fund dedicated to Nepal. The money will go to help first responders, needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products and shelter. Once initial relief work closes, the fund will transition to support long term recovery efforts. Click here to donate.

Save The Children 

This is the worst earthquake to have hit Nepal in the last 81 years, and Save the Children have worked in Nepal since 1976. Any donation you make, will help in their efforts to protect children and their families. 10 percent of your donation will be put aside for the next emergency, and the remaining towards the critical first hours and days of the current emergency. Friendicoes

This one is for the animal lovers, and if you do have time to volunteer. Although not directly related, a lot of the Friendicoes staff are Nepali, and have therefore been called away due to destruction and damage to their families and properties. This has led to 40 percent less staff on ground to help with their shelters in Delhi and Gurgaon. May we request you to extend a helping hand, and reach out as you see fit. Friendicoes does its best to help abandoned pets, and stray animals, and can use all the help you can give.
