Sushi, Sashimi and a Delectable Asian Menu at b-bar

One of the most spectacular interiors to grace the inside of a mall, b-bar is a pointed departure from the boho chic look currently popular with restaurateurs. Shadowy crimson corridors lead to a cavernous hall replete with chandeliers and giant Buddha statues. Eminently instagrammable.

As you would expect, b-bar has an extensive bar menu, including an impressive collection of imported liquor and also a fun “Fusion Cocktails” selection. My favorite was the Pearl- the bartender had ingeniously infused fennel into gin, making the liquor sweeter and more botanical, an inventive flavor combination.

Also admirable is their sushi and sashimi selection and considering it isn’t prohibitively priced, I may come back here to explore the world of raw fish more thoroughly. For now, try the creamy Philadelphia Maki Roll with salmon, cream cheeese and avocado and the New Style Sashimi made of a thin slice of salmon served with spring onion oil and specks of jalapenos.

The sushi menu is followed by a very long and probably completely exhaustive Asian menu containing everything from Prawns in Garlic Butter Sauce to Teppanyaki. The wide variety and impeccable service makes b-bar a good option for gatherings. The menu has something in it for everyone. On quiet weeknights, the calm DJ sets the mood for an intimate sushi and cocktail catch-up. Closer to the weekend, the “lounge” influence dominates with crowds of bandage dresses and branded belt buckles. Pick your scene.
