Cafe Luxe is hoping to squeeze excess oil out of our meals. It’s got a small outdoor area and the usual cafe fare with pastas, pizzas, satay, shakes and more; All made from a lot of organic ingredients sourced from Khalis Organics.

This Relationship Is Skewer

Done up in very Theobroma colours {teal and bubblegum pink}, this newbie is a father-son’s attempt at making relatively healthy food without making compromising on the taste. Their line of organic products, Khalis Organics, is already making about 300 pesticide-free products from flour to jams and green coffee beans to cereals and they decided that a interesting way to introduce people to these would be by whipping up dishes and bringing them things right onto our plates.

This explains why our Rosemary Wedges weren’t the usual crispy variety but ones with a lightly brushed layer of olive oil and a very strong flavour of herbs. The pasta arrabiata was again a light, tangy bowl of penne that was a world away from the pasta we’ve been having at colony cafes, smothered in sauces. The Peri Peri Chicken kept up with a tender, juicy chicken breast topped with an aromatic sauce and accompanied with crunchy iceberg lettuce salad.

Another good thing we learnt along the way was that Cafe Luxe believes in making everything from scratch. The breads and cakes are baked fresh and you won’t find any of that store-bought dough and or ready-made ginger pastes in the kitchen.

Good Bakes Ahead

The menu, with a mix of Continental, Italian, grill and more is nothing that would have left us in awe. The way the dishes are done, however, is something to admire. Of everything we had, the slice of mixed nut cake was the cherry on the meal. Perfectly spongy, it reminded us of good home-style baking. Pair it with a mug of coffee and you’ve got a good evening.

If you aren’t feeling like a lot of food, you can pop in to pick up supplies from the organic section that stocks up on cooking oil, herbs, honey and even green coffee beans. They obviously intend on expanding the range as they along and another addition to be expected from next week is a protein shake and fresh juice counter that’ll open at 7am so all the muscle heads can hit up Luxe on the way back from the gym.

PS: The owner {who’s usually around in the afternoons}, is amazingly receptive to feedback and takes it very seriously when you tell him that you’d rather have your burger patty crisp. 10 points for making us feel valued, right there.

So, We're Saying...

The only bummer was a bunch of super loud aunties and their equally loud kids on a mission to bring the place down with the decibel level. If you’re really unlucky, you might meet them again. Otherwise, it’s a perfectly soothing place with a lot of good, healthy stuff.
